Sadly, after a long hard year of vet's visits and a major operation in the spring, the vet's opinion last night was that it would be kindest to let the Bug go - her kidneys had nearly stopped functioning, she was anaemic and she'd lost yet more weight. It was a horrible decision to have to make but they were brilliant at the surgery. So there's another patch of turned earth in the garden, this time in the border she slept in for most of this summer, and a big empty space around the house.
It's going to be very strange living in a house without cats.
I'm so sorry. She was a beautiful girl. You did the right thing though - and I know how hard it is in that situation :)
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry, Liz. Bug looked to be quite a huge personality and I'm sure she was great company. I know it's no comfort you did the right thing for her, but believe me, it was right to save her more pain.
ReplyDeleteOh, Liz, I'm so, so sorry. It is the last best gift we can give to our pets, but that never makes it any easier. I am so glad I got to give her lots of scritches when visited the other week. Look after yourself.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry Liz.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear your news!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry. Hugs.
ReplyDeletePlease accept my sympathy...
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to read this. She looked such a beautiful cat. xxxx
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear your sad news. Sending hugs and sympathy xx
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear your news. I'm glad you can bury her in the garden though, especially somewhere she used to sit.
ReplyDeleteI'm so, so sorry for your loss. Such a painfully difficult decision.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the beautiful photo of her and for sharing your loss.
Hugs to you.
A very beautiful cat. You're lucky to have such a good vet.
ReplyDeleteLiz, I am so sorry...
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry x
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that. Sending cyber hugs your way xxx
ReplyDeleteOh, sweet bug. I'm so, so sorry. You did the hardest, and the rightest, thing... she lived with love all her days.
ReplyDeleteHugs.
Aww, how sad. I am so sorry. I always liked reading about the Bug and she was so beautiful. You did the right thing of course to let her go but it's always hard. And I agree, a house is a very empty place without a cat. We lost two within three months of each other and it was incredibly quiet after.
ReplyDeleteI'm so very sorry! Everyone else said it better, but I do know how it feels to love so much and have to say farewell. Sending you huge hugs, and the mental image of The Bug and Rusty playing Tag - You're It on the other side of the Bridge.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry babes, about poor old AJA aka Bug, I have oly just seen this, It is a terrible loss to lose a pet. Sometimes more so than a human! I am always devestated and animal-less for at least 18mths after a pet departs. Then in time, you can face getting a new friend, but they never replace the od ones, they are just different. I hope you won't remain catless forever, and that you can remember her fondly but still enjoy new cat adventures, its hard.
ReplyDeleteVery sorry to be hearing this and late too. Other commenters are right - she had the best life a cat could have having you to look after her. xx
ReplyDeleteOnly just seen this, Liz. Sorry Bug to hear Bug is gone! :-( Xx
