Two lace projects. On the left, the Unbloggable Project making its only appearance before it's rehomed; on the right the Hemlock Ring Blanket. The only similarity between the two, other than both being knitting-with-holes, is the wonderful Entrelac stitch markers. I was going to do this Hemlock Ring on larger needles, but the stitch markers didn't slip over the needles nicely; and I'm so sadly addicted to these things that I took it down a needle size... No affiliation, just a fan. Unfortunately the most recent consignment is still in the postal backlog... I didn't get the HRB started on Thursday night as planned; Emily Ocker's cast-on was just too complicated even with this great tutorial, given that I kept forgetting how to do garter-stitch for the baby jacket edging!

Love the sttich markers, and hope the new ones make it through the postal backlog soon. (I expect that's where my copy of Yarn Forward is, I was told thta they'd all been sent...)
Why do we get those "can't do garter stitch days"? I had problems getting ripple stitch right on Saturday, and surely my hands do that automatically by now!

I have to warn you on the HRB though. Many people are experiencing difficulties with it because they use needles that are too small, and then the thing doesn't block very well when finished. I'm actually quite worried about mine, since it's done in Alpaca with 4mm needles, and I'm already on round 103. I have visions of me ironing and steamblocking it and it springing into 'the blob' again afterwards.....
Hi Jantine: yes, I've seen people's tribulations on the KAL - I'm using a heavy worsted/Aran weight (slightly thinner than the EcoWool, I think) with a US 10.5 needle my Denise set is telling me is equivalent to 6.3mm... and I knit pretty loosely.
My first one looked really, really scrunched up when I finished it; but it blocked out really nicely, so maybe yours will too. You really never can tell with lace!
That gives one courage! I knitted another pattern repeat today at my SnB knitnight, and am hoping to cast off (which I hear takes quite some time) in a week or so.
I'll let you know how things fare.
Leave a huge, unreasonable, stupid amount of time for casting/binding off! I think it took me 6 hours, which is a huge amount of the time it took to knit the entire blanket...
Remind me to show you how to do Emily Ocker's cast on next time we meet - it really is easy and very useful!
